Gate Lodge
Gate Lodge is on the Scardroy Estate, which is part of Strathconon. It's a detached, two-bedroom house that sleeps four. It's got a 4 Star rating. The place has been done up to a high standard. It feels quite luxurious inside.
There's no internet here and no mobile signal. We've left a landline for emergencies or calls. That's just how it is in this bit of the glen.
You come into a good-sized hall. There's a cupboard for coats and boots. Off that is a small snug room with a sofa bed, good for reading. The kitchen is modern and has everything you'd need. The dining table is by the window, looking out over the water. The view is the main thing.
Upstairs are two double bedrooms. One has a zip-and-link bed that can be two singles. The other has twin beds. There's one shower room with a walk-in shower. The furnishings are all very nice, some of the blinds are even made from Strathconon tweed.
Outside, there's a patio area with seating. You can sit out there and just look at the hills. It's very quiet.
For facilities, it's all there: washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, TV, wood burner. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.
You're really here for the walking and the scenery. The estate land is right there. For a proper trip out, the coast at Ullapool is about half an hour's drive. Inverness is just under an hour for bigger shops.
