The Fisherman's Cottage

The Fisherman's Cottage is in Applecross. It's part of a row of old cottages by the shore. You look directly out at the bay.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one double and one twin. One bathroom upstairs too, it's got a walk-in shower. The stairs are steep. It's a listed building.

The kitchen is the original one, with the old oven still there. We've put in a new electric cooker next to it. There's a fridge, freezer, washing machine, and the basics for cooking. The table seats four.

Downstairs is the sitting room. It's comfortable, with a wood burner. There's a TV and WiFi.

Outside, directly across the single-track road, there's a decked area right on the sea front. You can sit there with a drink.

The village has an inn that does food and a shop for basics. If you're planning to cook a lot, it's better to do a big shop in Lochcarron or Inverness before you come. The road in, the Bealach na Bà, is a mountain pass. It's fine for careful drivers, but it is single track with passing places.

You can bring one dog. There's parking for one car at the cottage.

For planning, the National Trust for Scotland at Torridon is nearby, and the Walkhighlands page for the area is useful.
