The Railway Sleeper
The Railway Sleeper is in Douglas Water, which is in Lamark, Central Scotland. It's a modern cottage, built in 2022. It sleeps two.
The layout is what you'd call upside down. You come in to the kitchen and dining area on the ground floor. There's a shower room down there too. The stairs go up to the main living area and the bedroom. The idea is you get the view from up there. The bedroom and living room both have French doors that open onto a deck. You look out over fields.
It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well finished. There's a dishwasher, washing machine, and Wi-Fi. It's all on one level inside, and the entrance is step-free, which is helpful.
For the area, you're not far from the M74 at Cairn Lodge. Lanark itself is about 15 minutes north. You've got New Lanark, which is a World Heritage Site, and the Clyde Valley. Biggar and the Moffat hills are within half an hour. You can get to Glasgow or Edinburgh in about 45 minutes if you want a city day.
