The Railway Sleeper is in Sandilands, near Douglas Water in Lanarkshire. It's just one house, set back from the road. It's on the site of the old Sandilands station, right next to the old railway line.
It's a new build, finished in 2022. It sleeps two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well-equipped and comfy.
The layout is upside down. You come in on the ground floor to the kitchen and dining area. That's so the living room and bedroom upstairs get the best of the view over the fields opposite. The upstairs living room has French doors that open onto a raised deck.
The kitchen has a range cooker and a dishwasher. There's a washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is on site and there's an electric vehicle charger. The property is wheelchair accessible from the entrance.
You're about a 30 minute walk from the Falls of Clyde. New Lanark World Heritage Site is very close. There's local fishing and horse riding. A golf course is nearby.
For wider trips, you're well-placed. The Cairn Lodge M74 services are a few miles away for fuel and food. Biggar is about a 15 minute drive north. Glasgow is under an hour by car.
