Harperfield Chalet

This is the Harperfield Chalet. It's in Douglas Water, Lanarkshire. It's a detached chalet in the grounds of our family home, but it's completely private.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. The shower is a walk-in one. It has a 4 Star rating. You can see the river from the front windows and the verandah. The view is the best bit.

Inside, it's light and comfortable. There's a multi-fuel stove for colder nights, and a sofa you can sit on to look at the river. We provide all the bedding and towels.

You have exclusive fishing rights on our stretch of the Douglas Water. The rod is there for you to use.

There's a verandah with outdoor furniture and a BBQ. The garden is yours. Parking is right outside.

For facilities, it's got a TV, WiFi, a washing machine, a cot and a highchair.

Lanark is about five miles away for shops, pubs and food. You can get a bus from the gate if you don't want to drive.

The location is quiet but well-connected. Glasgow is about 30 minutes by car, Edinburgh about 40. The train from Carstairs, which is seven miles away, gets you into Glasgow city centre in under an hour.

Local things to do: The Falls of Clyde are a Scottish Wildlife Trust site, good for a walk. The New Lanark World Heritage Site is fascinating, it's an old cotton mill village. You can drive to the Scottish Borders, the Ayrshire coast or Dumfries and Galloway within a day.

No pets, I'm afraid.
