Caledonian Escape is a log cabin we built about five years ago, just outside Invergarry. It's on its own in a few acres of woodland, with a stream running past.
The cabin sleeps six, but it's just the two bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living area. One bedroom has a kingsize bed and an en-suite wet room with a walk-in shower. The other is a gallery room with twin beds that can zip together. There's a third bathroom with a bath. So, three toilets in total, which is handy.
It's made from big Western Red Cedar logs, so it feels quite solid inside. The main room is open plan, with a kitchen, a big old table, and a living area with a log burner. The stairs up to the gallery are a ship's ladder, so they're steep. You need to be okay with that.
Outside, there's a deck with a hot tub. There's also a gas BBQ, a pizza oven, and a fire pit. You can use the canoes and paddleboards on the loch. The place is remote. The nearest proper shop is in Fort Augustus, about a twenty minute drive, so you need to come prepared.
The location is good for getting around. You're right on the A82, so it's easy to head west to Glenfinnan or east towards Loch Ness. Fort William is about half an hour's drive. For walking, Glen Affric is worth the trip.
Facilities: everything's included. Bedding, towels, electricity, wifi. There's a washing machine and dishwasher. It's all on one level except for the gallery room. We take up to three well-behaved dogs.
