The Lucken is in Auchmithie, on the coast between Arbroath and Montrose. It's an end-of-terrace cottage, one of the old fisherman's places. It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The big thing is the view. The garden is terraced and looks straight out over the sea. You can sit out there with a drink and watch for porpoises. We've seen them often.
The stairs are steep. That's just how these old cottages are. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. All the bedding and towels are included. You've got a washing machine, dishwasher, and wifi.
There's a restaurant in the village, about a five minute walk. They do good food. The nearest shop is in Arbroath, which is about two miles away.
The coastal path is right there. You can walk to Arbroath along the Seaton Cliffs. The scenery is spectacular. Arbroath has a working harbour with shops selling the famous smokies. You can visit the Abbey or the Signal Tower Museum.
Golfers are well catered for. Carnoustie is about nine miles south. Montrose is about seven miles north, and has the RSPB reserve at Montrose Basin. Inland, you've got the Angus Glens for walking.
