Creel Cottage is in Auchmithie, which is a small fishing village north of Arbroath. It's an end of terrace cottage, and it sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s a 4 Star place so it’s comfortable and warm.
The cottage has been in the family a long time. We’ve fixed it up, but it’s still a cottage. The ceilings are a bit low in places.
You’re right on the coast. The path down to the pebble beach is about 300 yards away. The cliffs there are sandstone, full of caves. They say smugglers used them.
Arbroath is two miles south. That’s where you’ll find most shops. The harbour there is good for buying Arbroath smokies. That’s where they’re made now, though it started here in Auchmithie.
There’s a restaurant in the village, a few hundred yards away. The nearest pub and a small shop are about three miles.
For getting out, you’ve got Lunan Bay and Montrose beaches within a half hour drive. The Montrose Basin is good for birdwatching, especially the geese. Inland, the Angus Glens are about a 30 minute drive for walks.
Dundee is less than half an hour away if you need a city day. The V&A museum is there.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, WiFi, a TV. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring one dog.
