Creel Cottage

This is Creel Cottage in Auchmithie. It's the end house in a small terrace, right up on the cliffs. You're looking out at the North Sea.

It sleeps four, two bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s been renovated, but it’s still a traditional cottage, so the rooms are cosy, not huge. It was two cottages once, and it's been in the family a long time.

The village is tiny, just a handful of houses and a footpath down to the beach. The beach is pebble, with big sandstone cliffs and caves. The history here is all fishing and smuggling. They say the first Arbroath Smokie was made in Auchmithie.

You’re about three miles from Arbroath. That’s where you’ll find the main shops, the harbour, and places to buy those smokies. The Abbey is there too. The coastal path goes right past, so you can walk to Arbroath if you want.

Good beaches are a short drive away. Lunan Bay is about ten minutes south, Montrose a bit further. Montrose Basin is good for birdwatching, especially the geese. Inland, the Angus Glens start not far away if you like hill walking.

Dundee is maybe twenty-five minutes for a city day out. The V&A museum is on the waterfront there.

For facilities: there’s a washing machine, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome, and we leave a bed and bowls for them.
