Achnashellach Bothy

Achnashellach Bothy is a stone cottage on the edge of the Achnashellach forest. It's remote. You'll see that on the drive in.

Inside, it's a comfortable space for four people. Two bedrooms upstairs. One with a kingsize bed and one with twins. The bathroom is small, with a shower over the bath.

Downstairs, the living room has an open fire. We leave logs for you. It's got a TV, a dining table, and the kitchen is through a door. It has the usual things like a dishwasher and a washing machine.

The stairs are right opposite the front door. They're fine, but they are cottage stairs.

Outside, there's a small garden at the front. You're allowed one well-behaved dog. Because of the deer and other wildlife that come through, we ask that you keep the dog on a lead when it's out there.

As for the area, you are properly in the Highlands here. For walks, you can step straight into the forest from the gate. For bigger mountains, Glen Carron and Torridon are about a 20 minute drive. The National Trust for Scotland’s Balmacara Estate and Beinn Eighe nature reserve are both within half an hour.

The Kyle of Lochalsh, for the train line and shops, is about 25 minutes by car. Plockton is a bit further, maybe 35 minutes.

Practical things: It has a 3 Star rating. That means it's clean, warm, and has what you need. Wifi works. Bedding and towels are included. There is parking right outside.
