Mey Bee

Mey Bee is a cottage in Mey, right at the top of Scotland. It's detached, surrounded by its own bit of land, mainly wildflower meadow.

It sleeps two, in one bedroom. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and finished to a good standard. It's all on the ground floor, and the doorways and layout are suitable for a wheelchair. There's parking right next to it.

The place is very quiet. You look out over fields to the sea. On a clear day you can see the Orkney Islands. The kitchen and living area is all one space. There are two wood burners. One is for heat and also works like an extra oven for the Rayburn. The other is just a fireplace. There are window seats to look out from.

Outside, there are stone paths through the meadow. There's a firepit, a vegetable patch you can use, and a sheltered area to sit. There's a utility room at the back door for boots and coats. You can bring one dog.

You're about a five minute drive from the Castle of Mey. The Harrow harbour is close by for coastal walks. You're right on the NC500 route for driving. Dunnet Head, the most northerly point on the British mainland, is a short drive away.

For a bigger town, Thurso is about 15 minutes away by car. John O'Groats is about 20 minutes. The ferry to Orkney goes from Scrabster, near Thurso.

Inside, there's a washing machine, TV, and bedding and towels are included. The bathroom has a bath.
