Swona

Swona is a cottage in Mey, up on the north coast. It's a detached place. The main reason you'd pick it is the view. You're about a hundred yards from the beach and you look straight out over the water to Orkney. That's the view from the big window at the gable end.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after. The living space is open plan. There's a deck that goes all the way around. It's fully fenced, so safe for kids or a dog. There's a hot tub on the deck that fits six.

The beach is Dunnet Beach. It's a short walk. It's a long, sandy beach, good for walks. People surf and bodyboard there sometimes. The local area is quiet, very rural. The closest shop is about six miles away in Castletown. There's a pub and a restaurant about five miles away.

John O'Groats is five miles down the road. Thurso is about ten miles. It's a proper town with supermarkets and what you need. From Scrabster, which is near Thurso, you can get the ferry over to Orkney.

The facilities are what you'd expect. Dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right there. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
