Gleaner Lea Apartment

Gleaner Lea Apartment is a first-floor flat on the outskirts of Campbeltown in Kintyre. It’s one of two in the building, but it’s detached from the other one. You’re up a floor, so there are a couple of flights of carpeted stairs to get up to it.

It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. Both are a good size. One has a king-size bed and its own bathroom, the other has a double bed. There’s also a separate shower room. The main living space is open-plan. The big picture windows at the front look straight out over Campbeltown Loch. That’s the main thing about it, really. The view.

It’s got a 4 Star rating. That means it’s well-finished and comfortable. There’s private parking right outside. Across the road, there’s direct access down to the loch side, where there’s a bit of garden with some seating.

Campbeltown itself is a five minute drive, or a twenty minute walk. It’s a proper working town with a harbour. There are shops, a couple of supermarkets, pubs, and places to eat. It’s home to three whisky distilleries: Springbank, Glen Scotia, and Kilkerran. They all do tours.

For getting out, you’re well placed. The ferry to the Isle of Arran leaves from Claonaig, about half an hour north. The ferry to Gigha is at Tayinloan, about twenty minutes away. If you want to go over to Islay or Jura, the ferry is from Kennacraig, which is also roughly half an hour’s drive.

The peninsula has good beaches. Machrihanish beach is about fifteen minutes west. There’s a golf course there too. The whole coast is good for walking and there’s a lot of wildlife about. You often see seals.

In the flat, there’s a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot and highchair if you need them. All bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
