Floor to ceiling windows in the living area offer the perfect backdrop overlooking the sea loch, mountains, and islands from the comfort of the living/dining area. This property is ideal for exploring Lewis and Harris; but also, the ideal space to relax, and not move a muscle and simply soaking up the surrounding beauty when you don’t feel the urge to go far. Some of Lewis’s most famous beaches of Cliff, Reef and Valtos are just a few minutes’ drive away. During the summer, the small harbour of ‘Miavaig’ nearby attracts many visiting yachts; and is also the base for many sea safaris and fishing trips. Fishing trips on the sea can be arranged from here, and there is even the option to buy freshly caught lobster and hand dived scallops from the harbour when a catch is landed.
Taigh Nan Eilean is set on a fifty-acre croft in the village of Uigen. and in the heart of Uig, the resident Highland Cattle and Black Faced Sheep who roam free and enjoy grazing in the surrounding fields. The Uig sands are known to be the most spectacular and extensive beaches in all the Hebrides; with the famous sands of Luskentyre being the only rival of note, and also being within easy reach for a daytrip. You’ll never be stuck for places to visit in the Outer Hebrides with many historical sites, incredible archaeology, Harris Tweed outlet, and art galleries to name but a few. However, the unspoilt, dramatic scenery throughout, combined with the chance escape from the modern stresses of life, and ‘enjoy the simple life’ is what people love most.
