The Bothy's in the village of Haywood, in Lanarkshire central Scotland. It's a detached cottage. It's old, from the 1700s, so the walls are thick and the windows are sash and case. It's a Grade II listed place, so we've kept all that.
It's for two people, one bedroom and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after, not just basic.
The bedroom has a super king-size bed that can be split into two singles if you need that. The living room has a wood-burning stove. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's a private, walled garden out the back with a patio. You see a lot of birds from there, pheasants and things. Sometimes a fox goes past.
You're a couple of miles from the nearest shop and a pub that does food. For a proper day out, New Lanark is about eight miles away. It's a World Heritage Site and really interesting. The Falls of Clyde nature reserve is there too, with good walking and peregrine falcons.
Edinburgh is about 26 miles if you want the city. You can be there in under an hour. Glasgow is roughly the same distance the other way.
Included in the price: all the electricity, the WiFi, bedding and towels. There's parking right next to the cottage. No pets, I'm afraid.
If you're planning walks or visits, the National Trust for Scotland site is useful for ideas.
