Ardlochan Cottage

This is Ardlochan Cottage. It's in Maidens, which is a small village on the Ayrshire coast. The main thing is the view. You look straight out over the beach and the sea to the Isle of Arran.

It's a stone cottage that sleeps four. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, which is handy. One bathroom is a wet room on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. You can bring two dogs.

The beach is about twenty yards from the front door. It's sandy. You can walk along it for miles. If you go north, you walk right into the grounds of Culzean Castle. The woodland walks there are good. The castle is National Trust for Scotland. National Trust for Scotland Culzean.

There's a shop about fifty yards away for basics. A restaurant is just across the road. The nearest pub is in the next village, about three miles.

Girvan is a five-minute drive south. It's got more shops, a leisure centre with a pool, and a harbour where you can get boat trips to Ailsa Craig if you want to see the birds.

Ayr, Prestwick, and Troon are all within about half an hour's drive. They’ve got more beaches, golf links, and you can get the ferry to Arran from Ardrossan. Further north, Glasgow is about an hour's drive for a day out.

Inland, you’ve got Galloway Forest Park, which is about a forty-minute drive. It's a big, wild area for walking. It’s also a Dark Sky Park, so if the night is clear, you can see the stars properly. Forestry and Land Scotland Galloway.

Facilities: it's got a wood burner, a washing machine, WiFi, TV, an enclosed garden with a patio and a BBQ. There's parking. Bedding and towels are included. We provide a cot and a highchair if you need them.
