Walnut Tree Cottage is in Brampton Bryan. It's a thatched cottage from the 1500s, detached, right in the middle of the village. It sleeps six, three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The garden is nice and enclosed. Good if you've got kids or a dog. We allow one well-behaved dog. The stairs are steep, like most old cottages.
It's very quiet here. The village has an old park and a salmon river about five minutes' walk away. There's a pub within walking distance too.
For shops, you'll need to drive. The nearest proper one is about two miles.
Facilities wise: there's a woodburning stove, dishwasher, washing machine, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. There's a TV and bike storage.
Ludlow is about a twenty minute drive. Good for the market and the castle. Acton Scott Working Farm Museum is nearby, and so is Clun Castle. If you want to walk, you're right on the Welsh border. The Visit Herefordshire site has walking ideas. For a bigger day out, the National Trust has properties like Berrington Hall within half an hour.
