Heathfield is in Bedrule. It's a small, detached cottage, set back a bit from the lane. You get some nice views down the valley from the front. The garden is private, just a straightforward lawn and a patio.
The place sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom with a shower over the bath. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, clean, and has everything you'd need. It's open plan downstairs, with a woodburning stove. We leave logs for the first fire. The main light switch for the living area is in an odd spot, by the stairs.
Bedrule itself is quiet. There's a pub called the Rule Valley Inn just up the road. They do food. Jedburgh is about four miles away for bigger shops and a few cafes. Denholm village is close, maybe two miles, which has a village shop.
For walks, you can go right out the door onto the hills. The Teviot Valley is there to explore. For a proper historical day out, you've got Jedburgh Abbey and the Mary Queen of Scots Visitor Centre. Hawick is about fifteen minutes by car.
If you want to drive a bit further, you're not far from the coast at Berwick-upon-Tweed, or up into Northumberland National Park. It's all within about half an hour.
Things inside: it has a washing machine, dishwasher, TV. Bicycle storage is in the utility porch. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is on the gravel drive. The property accepts up to two dogs.
