This is Stable Cottage, up in John o' Groats. It's a detached building, converted from an old stable. It’s about 200 yards from the sea. You can walk into the village centre easily.
It sleeps six people. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms. One dog is allowed. It’s got a 3 Star rating, so it’s comfortable and clean.
You’re right at the top here. The coastal scenery is what it’s about. You get big skies and long walks. The beach at John o' Groats is pebbly, but there are some lovely sandy beaches a short drive away. You’ll see a lot of birds. Seals are common. If you're lucky, you might spot dolphins or whales from the shore.
The famous signpost is a few minutes' walk away. Duncansby Head and the stacks are just along the coast, maybe a five-minute drive. The ferry to Orkney leaves from the harbour, which is very close. You can be in Stromness in under 45 minutes. The Castle of Mey is about a 15-minute drive.
There’s a shop, a pub, and a restaurant about half a mile away in the village. Thurso is 20 minutes by car for bigger supermarkets.
As for the cottage itself, it's open plan. There’s a washing machine, TV, WiFi, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a stairgate fitted.
It’s run by a charity, the John o’ Groats Mill Trust, which looks after the old buildings here.
