Rowan Muir is a cottage out near Gatehead, on a working farm. It's detached and all on one level. The gardens are enclosed, which is handy if you've got dogs or kids. There's a private hot tub and a separate games room outside.
It sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one of them is a wet room. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's well set up for wheelchairs, with grab rails and level access.
You're on the farm, so you'll see sheep and tractors about. It's quiet. The coast is about three miles away. There's a pub a mile and a half up the road, and a shop nearly three miles.
For walking, the Ayrshire Coastal Path is right there. You can get to the beach in about ten minutes by car. The towns are close, too. Ayr, Prestwick, and Troon are a short drive. They've got the usual seafront things, shops and cafes. Royal Troon golf course is five minutes away.
If you like castles, there are a few ruined ones nearby like Dunure and Turnberry. Culzean Castle is the big one. It's a National Trust property on the cliffs. Dumfries House is inland, it's an 18th-century estate with gardens. You can get the ferry over to the Isle of Arran or to Cumbrae for a day out. Glasgow is less than an hour by train from Ayr.
Facilities wise: it's got parking, WiFi, a washing machine, a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
