Spinney Cottage

It's called Spinney Cottage. It's in Great Addington, which is a small village in Northamptonshire. A very quiet spot.

The cottage sleeps four in two bedrooms. Upstairs, you can have either a super king bed or two singles in one room, the other's a king. There are two bathrooms, one upstairs and a shower room downstairs, which is handy.

It's been done up recently but keeps things like the fireplaces and wooden floors. The kitchen is new and has one of those boiling water taps. The main room is open plan, kitchen and dining. Through there is the living room with a wood burner. The garden is a good size, gets the sun, and it's private.

In the village there's a pub. For shops, you'd drive to Thrapston, Wellingborough, or Kettering, they're all a few miles away.

If you like walking or cycling, Stanwick Lakes is about five miles. It's good for that. Rushden Lakes shopping centre is a similar distance, that's got shops, places to eat, and a cinema.

For a day out with kids, Wicksteed Park is just over six miles away. It's an old-fashioned sort of theme park.

There are a lot of big historic houses around here if that's your thing. Althorp, Castle Ashby, Rockingham Castle. Boughton House is known as the English Versailles, it's quite something. The National Trust and English Heritage sites are worth checking for any you might want to visit.

What you get: parking right outside, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. No pets, I'm afraid.
