The Annex At Fernyrig

The Annex at Fernyrig is our place. It's in Birgham, right in the Scottish Borders country. You're basically a stone's throw from England here, just north of the River Tweed.

It’s a bungalow annex attached to our house, but it’s all yours when you book. We updated it a few years ago. It sleeps two in the proper double bedroom. There's a double sofa bed in the living room too, so it can take four if you don't mind that setup.

Inside, it's all on one level which is handy. The floors have underfloor heating, which is good when it's cold. There's a wood burner in the living room as well. The bathroom has both a bath and a separate walk-in shower.

You get a south-west facing garden that's enclosed by a hedge. It's got a patio, a BBQ, and parking for two cars. There's also an electric vehicle charger. One well-behaved dog is welcome. There's a kennel outside if your dog prefers that.

The kitchen has the usual things: dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and highchair if you need them.

Location wise, it's rural. The nearest pub is about a mile and a half away. Shops are further, in Coldstream or Kelso, about a five mile drive. For a bigger shop or the coast, you'd go to Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is about seventeen miles east.

If you're here for fishing, the River Tweed is famous for it. You'd need to arrange a permit. There's a Tweed Foundation website that has information. For golf, the Hirsel Golf Club is close by in Coldstream.

For days out, you're well placed. Kelso has the abbey and Floors Castle. You can be at the Northumberland coast, like Bamburgh, in under an hour. The Northumberland National Park is just south of here, and the Northumbrian Coast is good for beaches. Edinburgh is about an hour's drive north if you fancy a city trip.
