The Old Stables is on our farm, Barns of Claverhouse, near Glamis in Angus. It's a conversion, so the rooms are a decent size. It’s very quiet here, just fields and the farm buildings. You'll see us going about our work sometimes.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms, and there are two bathrooms which is handy. Both bedrooms are upstairs. The rating is 4 Star, so it’s comfortable and well-equipped. It’s got a woodburning stove for the cooler evenings. The WiFi works, but it’s a farm, so it’s not super fast.
You can bring two dogs. The garden is enclosed but not fortress-like, so keep an eye on them if they’re escape artists. There’s parking right outside.
For things to do, Glamis Castle is the big one, about ten minutes away. Dundee is half an hour, with the V&A and the RRS Discovery. The Angus coast, like Arbroath or Lunan Bay, is about twenty-five minutes by car. If you like walking, you can head into the Sidlaw Hills or up towards the Cairngorms, which are about forty minutes.
The facilities are all there: washing machine, dishwasher, TV, cot and highchair if needed. Bedding and towels are included. There's a barbecue and a patio area.
