The Briar Rose is a bungalow on a quiet street in Shiney Row, just outside Houghton-le-Spring. It's all on one level, which is handy. It sleeps four, in two bedrooms, and there's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's warm and comfortable.
The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have kids. You can park right outside.
Inside, it's got what you need: a TV, Wi-Fi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
For days out, Beamish Museum is about ten minutes away. It's good, especially with children. Beamish.
Sunderland is a short drive. The beaches there are decent, and there's the National Glass Centre. Durham is about twenty minutes the other way. The cathedral is the main thing to see. Durham Cathedral.
Newcastle is a bit further, maybe half an hour, depending on traffic. That's where you'll find most of the shops, restaurants, and theatres.
If you want to go for a walk, there are paths locally, or you can drive out to the coast or up into Northumberland. It's about an hour to places like Alnwick or parts of the Northumberland National Park. For planning that, the Northumberland National Park site is useful.
There's a shop about five minutes walk away. The nearest pub for food is about a mile.
