This is Jill Strawbale House, near Strontian. It's an eco-house, built from straw bales. It's got a Green Tourism Gold award. The main thing is the view. It's up on the hill facing south, so you look right over Loch Sunart to the hills on the other side.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. One bathroom is a wet room on the ground floor. It's a 5 Star rating, so it's well-finished. It's detached and quiet.
Upstairs is all one big room under an arched roof. Kitchen, dining, living area. The whole south wall is glass, with doors out to a balcony. Down a spiral staircase there's a big deck with a hot tub and a chiminea.
The village is about a mile and a half away. There's a shop, a pub, and a restaurant there. The local beach is half a mile down the lane. For really good sandy beaches, you drive to Ardtoe, which is about twelve miles.
Out the back, you've got the Ariundle Oakwoods. It's an ancient woodland, a temperate rainforest. Good for walks. The old lead mines are up there too. You can see plenty of wildlife around here, deer, birds, sometimes otters or pine martens.
Further out, you can go to the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, the most westerly point on the mainland. The distillery is out there too. Sanna Bay has white sand dunes and views to the islands. For a day trip, Glencoe and Ben Nevis are about an hour's drive. The Jacobite steam train from Fort William goes over the Glenfinnan Viaduct.
Facilities: it's got a dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair. Parking is right there. No pets.
You can book it with Jack Strawbale House next door if there's more of you.
