The Byre is on the Rispond Estate near Sangobeg. It's a stone barn conversion, detached. There are two other cottages on the estate but you've got your own space.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. Both are doubles with their own bathrooms. Everything's on one floor except for a second living room upstairs. You get there by a spiral staircase. The ceiling up there is quite low in places, because of the roof shape.
Inside, it's open plan at the back. There's a wood burner. The kitchen is decent. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-finished.
Outside, you're right on the North Coast 500 route. The estate is 300 acres. You can walk down to a small natural harbour in a few minutes. There's a beach about 200 yards away, a nice crescent of sand. You'll see deer, lots of birds, sometimes seals in the harbour. Otters and eagles are around too.
The nearest shop and pub are in Durness, about three miles away. They have the basics.
If you want to get out, it's good for walking straight from the door. You can fish or kayak locally. The golf course at Durness is nine holes and right by the sea. For a bigger day out, Cape Wrath is about a 30 minute drive, plus the ferry. Smoo Cave is nearby. Thurso is just over an hour if you need a bigger town.
Facilities are all there: dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Parking is right outside. No pets.
