The Byre is near Sangobeg, up on the north coast. It's a stone building, used to be part of an old estate. It's detached, so it's just you. The view looks straight out over a little natural harbour.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both are doubles and they've each got an ensuite bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything's clean and works properly, but it's not showy.
There's a spiral staircase inside, going up to the second living room. The ceiling up there is low under the eaves, you'll need to duck in places. The main stairs are fine.
The beach is about a three-minute walk away. It's a small, white sand cove, really nice. You'll often see seals in the harbour. We get deer and eagles around the estate too.
Sangobeg itself is quiet. The nearest shop and pub are about three miles away in Durness. They've got the basics covered.
You're right on the North Coast 500 route here, so it's a good base for driving. Smoo Cave is in Durness, that's worth a look. For a day out, you can drive to Cape Wrath, but you need to get the ferry and a minibus from Keoldale. It takes about an hour all in.
Facilities: there's a wood burner, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a cot and a highchair if you need them. All bedding and towels are included. There's parking right by the cottage. The garden is enclosed, but it's quite open to the fields. No pets, sorry.
