The Fish House Sangobeg

The Fish House is up near Sangobeg on the north coast. It's on an estate, about 300 acres. You get the whole house to yourselves, it's detached. The views from the front are over the harbour and the sea. It's very quiet.

It sleeps eight in four bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been done up to a high standard, but it's an old building. The stairs are normal inside, but remember it's over three floors so there are a few of them.

The main living room is on the first floor. It's a big room with a wood burner. There's another, smaller sitting room too. The kitchen has what you need, and there's a dishwasher and washing machine.

Outside, there's a garden that's enclosed. You can park right there.

The beach is about 200 yards away. It's a lovely curve of sand. You'll often see seals in the harbour. Deer on the estate, sometimes otters and eagles if you're lucky.

The nearest shop and pub are in Durness, about three miles away. They have the basics. For a bigger shop or more places to eat, you'd drive to Thurso.

You're right on the North Coast 500 route here. For walking, the Walkhighlands site is good. For local history and sites, Historic Environment Scotland has details. Smoo Cave is nearby. Cape Wrath is a trip you can make if the ferry's running.

Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if needed. No pets.
