Druim-Nan-Deur is a cottage just outside Lochcarron, up on the hill a bit. You get a clear view right down the loch from the garden. It’s detached, so no one next door.
It sleeps six in three double rooms. One bedroom is downstairs, the other two are up. There’s one family-sized shower room. It’s a 4 Star place, which means it’s comfortable and well looked after. The living room has a wood burner for chilly evenings. The kitchen has everything you’d need.
The stairs are fine, just normal cottage stairs. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have a dog. We take one pet. There’s parking right there.
Lochcarron village is about half a mile down the hill. It’s got a shop, a couple of pubs that do food, and a golf course. You can see Attadale Gardens right across the water. They’re worth a visit when they’re open.
The area is good for walking and being outside. You often see seals from the shore. Otters are around too, but they’re shy. For a day out, Eilean Donan Castle is about half an hour’s drive. Kyle of Lochalsh, for the bridge to Skye, is about 20 minutes. Plockton is lovely, with the houses right by the water, that’s maybe 25 minutes.
Facilities are all there: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We’ve got a cot and a highchair if you need them.
