Middle Lodge is in Mintlaw. It's a detached granite lodge on the Pitfour estate. It's quiet and has its own garden.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both doubles. There's one bathroom upstairs. The stairs are quite steep, so you need to be a bit careful. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfy and clean, with no fuss.
There's a big living area with lots of light. The owner always leaves a good welcome pack with local stuff from the area.
The garden room looks out onto the terrace and the mature garden. We let you bring two dogs. The garden is enclosed.
For facilities, you've got a washing machine, a dishwasher, a TV, and a woodburning stove. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is right there.
You're right on the edge of the Pitfour estate, so you can walk straight out into it. There's a lake. A longer walk takes you to Old Deer to see the abbey ruins.
If you drive, you can be at the coast in about twenty minutes. There are long sandy beaches at Fraserburgh, Peterhead, and Cruden Bay. They're often very quiet.
For birdwatchers, the RSPB centres at Strathbeg and Troup Head are within half an hour. You can see the seal colony at Newburgh.
Golfers have a few links courses nearby, like Cruden Bay and Fraserburgh.
There are castles like Fyvie, which is National Trust, and Delgatie. Peterhead has its fishmarket and the prison museum if you want something different.
