The Dovecote is on the Birstwith Hall Estate, about a mile from Hampsthwaite village. It's a converted barn. You can walk around the estate's four-acre gardens, which are nice. There's a little stream and an old greenhouse.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs: one double, one twin. Two bathrooms, one with a shower over the bath. The stairs are fine. Downstairs is all open plan: kitchen, dining, and living area together. The sofas are big. There's a TV with Freeview. The kitchen has what you need: dishwasher, washing machine.
Outside, there's a patio with furniture and a barbecue. You can have breakfast out there. There's parking right by the cottage.
You can bring up to two dogs. There's space to store bikes if you bring them.
The local shop and a couple of pubs are a mile away in the village. Harrogate is about a ten-minute drive for the bigger shops.
For walks, you're right in Lower Nidderdale. The estate itself is good for a stroll. Brimham Rocks is about twenty minutes by car, that's always worth a look. For a proper day out, Fountains Abbey is maybe half an hour away. York is about forty minutes' drive.
