Orchard Cottage At Braidwood Castle Braidwood

Orchard Cottage is on the grounds of Braidwood Castle, near the village of Braidwood. It's a detached stone place, built as a bothy for the castle originally. It sleeps two, one bedroom, one wet room. The rating is 3 Star, so it's comfortable but not luxurious.

The living room is spacious and has a wood burner. The kitchen is compact. You've got a lawned area around the cottage for yourselves, and you can wander the shared gardens and orchard. The castle has been in the same family for hundreds of years, which is quite something.

There's a burn that runs past the cottage, so you can hear the water. There are paths from here down to the River Clyde. It's very quiet.

For shops and things, Lanark is about five miles away. There's a pub and a restaurant about three quarters of a mile up the road. A shop is a mile away.

You're right in the Clyde Valley. The Clyde Valley Woodlands National Nature Reserve is on the doorstep for walking. New Lanark, the old mill village, is worth a visit. It's a UNESCO site. Glasgow is easy to get to by train from Carluke if you want a day in the city.

In terms of what's here: parking, washing machine, TV, an enclosed garden area. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. The wet room is on the ground floor.

If you have more people, the main castle can be booked as well, so the whole place sleeps up to seven together.
