The Old School House
The Old School House is in Lonbain, on the west coast. It's detached, in its own walled garden. You're right on the seashore. The views from most rooms are across the water towards Raasay, Rona and Skye. It gets the sun.
It was a school originally. The main rooms were classrooms, so the ceilings are high. It was converted in the 80s and we did more work on it in 2022. The living room has a big picture window. Good for sunsets and watching for otters or seals.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. There's a woodburning stove for cool evenings. The track down to the house is about a quarter of a mile. It's fine for normal cars.
You can bring one dog. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, and wifi. Parking is on site.
The nearest proper beach is Sand Beach or Applecross Bay, about three miles. Applecross village is about nine miles away. There's a shop there and a couple of restaurants, including The Applecross Inn which is well known.
For days out, the National Trust for Scotland at Strome Castle is good. The Torridon Countryside Centre is interesting for the local landscape. A drive up to Diabaig or around Loch Maree is worth it for the scenery. This is deer country, you'll see them.
If you're here for walking, climbing, kayaking, or cycling, you're in the right place. It's very quiet.
