Beech Cottage

This is Beech Cottage. It's in Crawfordjohn, out in the Lanarkshire countryside. It's one of three cottages set around a courtyard, so you'll see the other guests sometimes, but you've got your own space.

It's on the Douglas Estate, so you're right in the middle of woodland and fields. The views are good, very open. You can walk straight out from the door onto paths. The Southern Upland Way, that big coast-to-coast walk, runs nearby.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which helps. It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's well finished, everything works, and it's kept very clean. It's also wheelchair accessible on the ground floor.

You've got all the things you'd need. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. There's a woodburning stove for the evenings. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right there.

The local pub is about two miles away in the village. For a proper shop, you'd drive to Biggar, which is seven miles. Biggar has shops, places to eat, and some museums. They have a big Hogmanay party there if you're visiting over New Year.

You're well placed for getting out. Edinburgh is under an hour's drive for the castle and all the city stuff. Glasgow is about the same distance, the other way. For walks and scenery, you're on the edge of the Southern Uplands.

No pets, I'm afraid.
