This is South Bay Cottage. It's in Ferindonald on Skye. Right on the shore. It's a 150-year-old house but it's been done up, so it's modern inside. Sleeps six, three bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is handy.
The views are why you come. You look north, east, and south from the house over the sea to places like Knoydart and Ardnamurchan. The Ordnance Survey map marks this spot as a notable viewpoint. They're not wrong.
You get about three acres of garden. It's wild, not a lawn. There's a roof terrace with a glass rail you can sit on and watch for herons, eagles, sometimes otters. A little bridge from the terrace leads to a path into the woods. The path isn't fenced, just so you know.
You can walk straight from the door along the shore. For a bigger walk, you can drive the loop to Tarskavaig for the famous view of the Cuillin hills.
Mallaig ferry is about three miles. Kyle of Lochalsh is about nineteen. There are hotels with restaurants nearby, the closest is the Toravaig Hotel, about a mile. Armadale Castle is three miles away if you want gardens and a history centre.
Inside, it's got a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, TV. Bedding is included. You can bring two dogs. There's parking.
