Old High Hall is in Boyden End, near Wickhambrook. It's a very old thatched cottage, 14th or 15th century, detached. The main thing is the space. It sleeps ten, with five bedrooms and four bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable.
The place was a hunting lodge once. It's full of beams and there are open fires, one in the living room and one in the dining room. The garden is about two acres. There's a terrace to sit out on.
The stairs are uneven and steep in places, because of the age of the building. The floors aren't level either. It's part of the character.
There's a village shop and a pub about a ten-minute walk away. The pub serves food.
You're about eight miles from Bury St. Edmunds and Newmarket. Newmarket is for the races. Bury has the cathedral and abbey gardens. The pretty villages of Lavenham and Long Melford are a short drive away.
For days out, Ickworth House is close. So is Lavenham Guildhall. Cambridge is under half an hour by car if you want museums or colleges.
Facilities: it's got WiFi, a TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking on site. There's a highchair. No pets.
