River View is on the edge of Dalwhinnie. It's a detached bungalow. The name comes from the River Truim at the bottom of the garden. You can fish there, but you'd need a permit.
It sleeps eight. There are three bedrooms. One has a king bed with its own shower room. The other double room is standard. The third room has a double bed and bunk beds, so it's good for a family. There's a second bathroom with a shower.
Inside, it's all open plan downstairs. Kitchen, dining, sitting room together. There's a wood burner. It's a modern build, so it's warm and the rooms are a decent size. It has a 4 Star rating.
The garden is enclosed. There's a patio with a barbecue and one of those outdoor sofa things under a roof. They call it a sitooterie here. It's useful because it can rain.
Dalwhinnie is small. There's a shop and a hotel bar. The Dalwhinnie Distillery is a five minute walk. They do tours.
For walking, you can head straight out onto the tracks around Loch Ericht. It's proper hiking country. The Cairngorms National Park starts just north of here. Aviemore is about a 40 minute drive. That's where you'll find more shops, the reindeer centre, and the ski area. Newtonmore is 20 minutes south. It has the Highland Folk Museum, which is good if you're interested in how people used to live here.
It's a quiet spot. You come here for the space and the landscape, not for busy towns.
Facilities: everything on the list is there. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, all bedding. Parking for two cars on the drive. You can bring up to two dogs.
