Gramsdale House is a detached cottage on the Isle of Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides. It's on the family croft, which means it's quite open land around you. It's a quiet spot.
The house sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating, which is good. It feels like a proper home, not just a holiday let. The main room is open plan. There's also a conservatory on the back, which is nice when it's sunny but not warm enough to be outside. The decking outside is big, with views over the croft land.
It faces west, so you can get good sunsets if the weather plays ball. Being out here, the weather changes quickly. You can have all four seasons in one afternoon.
The facilities are all there: WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Plenty of parking right at the house.
You're close to the coast here. Traigh Mhor beach is a lovely big stretch of sand, about ten minutes in the car. Good for a walk. For birdwatching, the RSPB Balranald nature reserve is on North Uist, which is just over the causeway. That's about a 30 minute drive.
If you play golf, the Askernish course on South Uist is a classic old links. Also within half an hour. For a bit of history, you can get the ferry from Lochboisdale over to Castlebay on Barra to see Kisimul Castle. You need to plan that, it's not a hop-on hop-off. The Historic Environment Scotland page for Kisimul Castle has the latest visitor information.
You'll need to book your car onto the ferry to get here. The main operator is CalMac. Book it well in advance, especially in summer.
No pets, I'm afraid.
