Taigh Violet Rose

This is Taigh Violet Rose, in Uachdar on Benbecula. It's a renovated blackhouse. That's the old style of stone cottage you see around here. It's thatched and detached, with its own garden.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. Everything's on the ground floor. The living area is open plan. The place has a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after. The entrance and bathroom are wheelchair accessible, but it's an old building so check the details if accessibility is a priority.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's a washing machine, a TV, and WiFi. The bedding and towels are included. There's parking right there.

You're on Benbecula, which is between North and South Uist. It's linked by causeway, so you can drive straight through. The west coast has beaches with white sand. It's very quiet. For a shop or a pub, you'd drive to Balivanich, which is a couple of miles away.

You're right in the middle of the islands here. North Uist is a short drive north. South Uist is a short drive south. To get to Harris, you'd drive up to Berneray for the ferry. For Barra, you'd drive down to Eriskay. It's a good base for seeing all of them. Book your car ferry from the mainland when you book the cottage, as spaces sell out.
