The Cottage

The Cottage is on the grounds of the Little Channels golf course in Little Waltham. It's a detached house, so you're on your own. The garden is a decent size, lawned and enclosed.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. That's handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. The renovation is recent, so everything's in good order. It feels new but comfortable.

The golf course is a nine-hole 'pay and play' right outside. There's a bistro on site that does breakfast and lunch. For an evening meal or a Sunday roast, you'd need to drive a few minutes to the clubhouse brasserie or into Chelmsford.

You're about three miles from Chelmsford city centre. You can drive in or there's a park and ride. It's a standard town centre with shops, a cinema, and restaurants. The Riverside Centre has a swimming pool and ice rink. Oaklands Park has the Chelmsford Museum. For bigger gardens, RHS Garden Hyde Hall is about a fifteen minute drive.

There's a good network of footpaths from the property. You can walk or run the two miles into Chelmsford along the river without using the road.

For the coast, Leigh-on-Sea is about 45 minutes by car. It has the old fishing harbour and stalls. Southend-on-Sea is a bit further along. Colchester, with the castle and zoo, is roughly 40 minutes away. Trains from Chelmsford to London Liverpool Street take about 35 minutes.

Inside, there's a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. No pets.

If you're looking for walks or days out: Visit Essex and RHS Garden Hyde Hall.
