The Summer House is on a peninsula called Achamore, about seven miles west of Stornoway on Lewis. It's a detached, modern bungalow. It was designed by local architects to look a bit like an old summer herding hut, but with proper windows and insulation.
It sleeps four in two double bedrooms. One has an en-suite bathroom, the other uses a separate shower room across the hall. That shower room also leads into a small electric sauna. There's a switch for it on the wall.
The main living space is open plan: kitchen, dining, sitting area. The big window faces west over the loch towards the mountains. You get the view from inside. Patio doors open onto a deck.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped. There's a woodburning stove, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome. We can provide a cot and highchair.
The location is quiet and rural. You’re surrounded by water on three sides. For supplies, Stornoway is your best bet. It's about a 15-minute drive. That's also where the ferry comes in.
The Callanish Standing Stones are about 10 minutes away by car. The west coast beaches, like Dalbeg and Uig, are stunning. They're about a 20-minute drive. If you want to go to Harris, it's roughly an hour's drive to Tarbert or the beaches at Luskentyre.
