Am Bruadar

Am Bruadar is a house just outside Dalmally, in Argyll. It sleeps eight people. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The house is detached. It's in a quiet spot with a view of Ben Cruachan. There's a decent-sized, fenced garden at the back.

The layout might suit people who find stairs difficult. There's a ramp at the front door. On the ground floor there's a double bedroom and a single bedroom, both with an en-suite shower room. The main living area is open plan, with a kitchen and a utility room off it.

Upstairs, there's a big master bedroom with a super king bed and its own bathroom. It has a balcony looking towards the mountain. Also up there are a twin room and another single room, which use a separate family bathroom with a big bath.

I should mention, at the back of the garden there's a railway line. It's the Oban to Glasgow route. It's fenced off completely, so it's safe, but you'll see the trains. They're short, two-carriage trains and they don't come past often. They go slowly. It's not a main line.

Dalmally village is a couple of minutes away by car. It has a shop, a post office, a golf course, and a train station with a little craft shop. Loch Awe village is about five minutes in the other direction. It has a store and a couple of places to eat.

You're right in the middle of walking country here. Glen Orchy is beautiful. The River Orchy is known for fishing. For history, Kilchurn Castle is on the loch and it's very close. St Conan's Kirk is an interesting church nearby. The Cruachan power station has a visitor centre if that's your sort of thing.

Within half an hour you can drive to Oban. That's where you'll find supermarkets, more shops, restaurants, and the ferry terminal for the islands. Inveraray, with its castle, is also about half an hour.

Facilities: washing machine, dishwasher, TV, wifi included. Bedding and towels are provided. There's parking. There's a cot, a highchair, and a stairgate if you need them. There's a wood burning stove. No pets sorry.
