Tigh Nam Muc

Tigh Nam Muc is on the old farm steading in Old Pentland. It's a proper stone cottage from the 1700s, but it's been done up inside. It's bright and open plan.

It sleeps six across four bedrooms. Two bathrooms, one of them is an en-suite. The stairs to the top floor are a bit tight, but there's a TV room up there. It's got great views out to the Pentland Hills.

You've got a wood burner in the main room and an open fire. There's a decent kitchen with a dishwasher and washing machine. The boot room at the back is useful for muddy boots.

The garden is private, with a table and a barbecue. One well-behaved dog is welcome. We provide bedding and towels.

You're out in the fields here, but you can get a bus into Edinburgh. It's about a 15 minute drive. Rosslyn Chapel is just down the road, maybe a mile and a half.

The Pentland Hills are right there for walking. You can walk up from the cottage. Hillend dry ski slope is a few minutes' drive if you fancy that. There are plenty of golf courses around, including Swanston which is good for beginners.

If you want to go further, the East Lothian coast is about half an hour away for beaches. Stirling or the Borders are easy for a day out.
