Lochside House is on the shore of Loch Katrine, up near Stronachlachar. It’s a five-bedroom house that sleeps ten. It’s the right-hand side of the building in the photo, completely separate. You can book the other side as well if you need to, but normally it’s locked off.
The main thing is the view. You look right out over the loch from the living room. Four of the bedrooms have the same view. It’s very quiet.
There are three bathrooms. Two are en-suite, one is a general one with a walk-in shower. It’s been recently done up.
It’s a 4 Star rating, so it’s comfortable and well-equipped rather than luxurious. It has all the things you’d expect: a dishwasher, washing machine, wood burner. There’s parking. You can bring one dog.
The pier is a two-minute walk. A small passenger boat calls there from Trossachs Pier. There’s a café at the pier too, good for a coffee and a cake.
For a shop or a pub, you need to drive to Aberfoyle. It takes about half an hour. They have a Co-op, some restaurants, and a Go Ape just outside the town.
You’re in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, so walking, cycling, and fishing are right on the doorstep. You can launch paddleboards from near the house.
