Canal View
Canal View is in Tetchill, a quiet hamlet just outside Oswestry. It's a single-storey barn conversion, so everything's on the ground floor. The back of the place looks right out onto the Llangollen Canal.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, and two bathrooms, which is handy. It's a 5 Star property, so it's finished to a high standard. Everything's new and clean.
The patio and garden are well kept. You can sit out there with a coffee and watch the canal boats go by. It's very peaceful.
There's a shop and a pub about two miles away in the village. Ellesmere is close too, about a ten minute drive. They call it Shropshire's Lake District because of the meres. You can hire rowing boats there.
Oswestry is a market town, about five minutes in the car. Whittington has a castle with grounds you can walk around. If you head into Wales, Llangollen is about half an hour. You can do canal trips or walk up to the ruins above the town.
For a day out, Chester is roughly 40 minutes by car. There are several National Trust properties within a 30 minute drive, like Chirk Castle and Attingham Park.
Facilities: it's got parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and wifi. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings. Bedding and towels are provided. No pets, I'm afraid.
