The Boat House is a detached place on the edge of Lochmaddy. It's for two people really. You can see the loch from the main room.
It's got one bedroom up a staircase from the living area. The bedroom is galleried, so it's open to the room below. There's a double bed and a small single in there, so it could work for a couple with one small child. The bathroom has a shower.
Downstairs is all one space: kitchen, table, and sitting area. It's wooden floors, not carpet. French doors open onto a private patio with a picnic table. You're right by the water there. We've seen otters from the garden.
The place is rated 4 Star. It's got everything you need: a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. The entrance and the main room are on one level, so it's accessible if you use a wheelchair.
You can walk to the village. The shop is about 50 yards away. The pub and a couple of hotel restaurants are maybe 300 yards. The ferry terminal is here too, for boats from Harris and Skye.
The island itself is very flat and covered in little lochs. The west coast has big white sand beaches, about seven miles drive away. It's good for walking and cycling. The Hebridean Way trail goes through here. The bus service links up with it, so you can walk one way and get the bus back.
If you're interested in the history or the landscape, the Walkhighlands site for the Outer Hebrides is useful. For local events and information, Visit Outer Hebrides is the official site.
No pets, I'm afraid.
