The Old Stables is up near Standon. It's a barn conversion so the ceilings are good and high, which you don't always get. It's detached, so it's just you and the garden.
It sleeps eight over four bedrooms, with three bathrooms. Got the 4 Star rating, which is mostly about it being comfortable and well-equipped. You're not right in a village, it's a hamlet. The nearest pub is about two miles down the road, and the shop is a bit further.
Inside, the main room is big. There's a log burner for cooler nights. Through an archway there's a games room with a table tennis table. It's useful, especially if the weather isn't great.
The garden has a patio with a BBQ and some furniture. There's plenty of parking, and you can store bikes.
For facilities, it's got the things you'd expect a family needs. Washing machine, dishwasher, towels included, a cot and highchair. It's all there.
You can walk straight from the door onto the local paths. For a day out, Eccleshall is a nice little town about five miles away. Stoke-on-Trent is under half an hour if you want the Potteries museums or the Waterworld pool. Alton Towers is about twenty five minutes' drive, maybe half an hour depending on traffic.
