Chaff House

Chaff House is in Darvel. It's a standalone cottage on a working farm, so you'll see horses, goats, and alpacas from the window. The owners live on site if you need anything, or if you want to book a session with the animals.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. The bathroom is a wet room on the ground floor, and the entrance and main living space are wheelchair accessible. There's also an electric bed available. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's modern and clean inside.

The cottage has its own patio and garden. You can park right outside. There's a BBQ, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. They can provide a cot and highchair.

The big thing here is the location for being outside. The back gate opens directly onto the trails of Whitelee Windfarm. That's the UK's largest windfarm, with over 130 kilometres of paths for walking, cycling, or horse riding. You don't need to drive anywhere to start a proper walk.

If you do drive, Galloway Forest Park is about thirty minutes away. It's a huge area for forest walks and wildlife. It's also a Dark Sky Park, so the stargazing is excellent on a clear night. The Scottish Dark Sky Observatory is in Dalmellington, not far from there.

The Ayrshire coast is about a forty-minute drive. Towns like Ayr, Troon, and Prestwick have long sandy beaches and you can look across to the Isle of Arran. You can get a ferry over from Ardrossan if you want a day trip. There are plenty of golf courses, including Turnberry.

For history, Culzean Castle is spectacular and run by the National Trust for Scotland. This is Burns country too, so you've got Burns Cottage and the museum in Alloway.

The nearest shop is in Darvel, about three miles away. The nearest pub is about three and a quarter miles. You get two well-behaved pets allowed.
