Ashley Cottage
Ashley Cottage is in Bowmore, on Islay. It's one of a row on a quiet street. The garden at the back is enclosed and gets the sun.
It's for two people. One bedroom with a kingsize bed, one bathroom with a bath and shower over it. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well kept. You can bring one dog.
The sun room is the best bit. It's off the living room and goes out to the garden. You can sit in there even if it's a bit breezy outside. The kitchen is small but has what you need. There's parking right outside.
You're a two minute walk from the middle of the village. The Bowmore distillery is just round the corner. There's a co-op for food, a couple of places to eat, and the Round Church. The leisure centre with the pool is close by, too. The shore of Loch Indaal is at the bottom of the street. You can watch the birds on the flats from there.
Bowmore is roughly in the middle of the island. Port Ellen and Port Askaig, where the ferries come in, are both about a ten mile drive. The famous Machrie golf links are five miles away, next to a long beach. From Port Askaig you can get the ferry over to Jura.
For planning, the ferry operator is Calmac. Islay Info has good local information. If you're interested in the wildlife, the RSPB Loch Gruinart reserve is on the island.
