Suisnish House

Suisnish House is on the Isle of Raasay. It’s a big, old farmhouse that sleeps fifteen. So it’s for a crowd. You get the place to yourselves, with about eight acres of ground. It’s right by the water, opposite Skye.

The house has seven bedrooms and three bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms have their own shower rooms. Most rooms have a little sink in them. It’s a 3 Star place, so it’s comfortable and lived-in, not a show home. The stairs are normal.

Inside, there’s a big dining room, a living room with a wood burner, and another sitting room across the hall with another burner. That one’s good if the kids want to play, or if you want a bit of quiet. The kitchen has what you need. There’s a games room in an outbuilding with table football, darts, and a small pool table. It has an extra fridge, and there’s a freezer outside it too. You’ll find a utility room and an extra toilet out there as well.

Outside, there’s a big lawn and a partly walled garden. You can get down to the foreshore through a gate opposite the main entrance. You’ll often see sea eagles and otters. Sometimes porpoises, and if you’re very lucky, a whale.

For getting about, you don’t need a car for everything. The community shop is a ten minute walk. The Raasay Distillery is about twenty-five minutes on foot. The Raasay Hotel is thirty-five. They do food and run activities like fishing. You can get a permit from them for fishing on the lochans.

The ferry from Sconser on Skye takes about twenty-five minutes. The house is only five minutes drive from the ferry slip on Raasay. So Skye is right there if you want to explore.

What’s here: Washing machine, dishwasher, bedding and towels are included, WiFi, TV, wood burners, parking. Two well-behaved pets are welcome. There’s a highchair and a stairgate.
