Morven View

Morven View is a house near Dunbeath, in Caithness. It's detached. The name is accurate. You look out over the fields towards Morven, which is the big hill there. It's quiet.

It sleeps eight. There are three bedrooms, but they're all a good size and each has its own bathroom. So three bathrooms in total. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well done and comfortable. It feels new.

The house has underfloor heating downstairs, which is nice. There's also a woodburning stove in the living area. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.

Outside, there's a patio with a table and chairs, and a barbecue. The garden isn't fenced all the way around, so if you're bringing dogs you'd need to keep an eye on them. You can bring up to two dogs.

You're a couple of miles from Dunbeath village. There's a shop there and a pub that does food. Dunbeath has a small harbour and a beach. It's a shingle beach, good for a stroll or letting the dogs run.

If you want to explore, you’re right between the coast and the main road north. Wick is about 20 minutes up the road. John O'Groats is about 40 minutes. The North Coast 500 route passes close by if that's your plan.

For a dramatic coastal walk, the cliffs at Duncansby Head are worth the drive. Further west, the drive towards Cape Wrath is empty and beautiful. Inland, the flow country is a different kind of landscape altogether.
