This is Bridge Cottage in Oxton. It's a cottage for two people, one bedroom upstairs on a mezzanine. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The living area is double height with big windows. There's a wood burning stove for when it's cold. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine.
You can hear the burn running past outside. There's a small patio that's quite sheltered.
The stairs up to the bedroom are a bit steep, like a ship's ladder. Just so you know.
It's very quiet here. The nearest shop and pub are about two and a half miles away in Lauder. Lauder has a few places to eat and a decent gallery. Thirlestane Castle is nearby if you like that sort of thing.
For a day out, Kelso and Melrose are about a twenty minute drive. They've got the ruined abbeys and some good shops. The River Tweed is there for fishing.
Edinburgh is under an hour away if you want city things. The east coast beaches are a bit further, maybe forty minutes.
There's parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if needed. No pets.
If you're planning walks, the Scottish Borders Council website has good information on local paths. For historic sites, Historic Environment Scotland is the one to check.
