Diggers Cottage is near Oxton, in the Scottish Borders. It's a converted barn. We're a couple of miles from the A68, so it's easy to get to, but the place itself is quiet. You look out over fields towards the village.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both doubles, and two bathrooms which is handy. It's got a 3 Star rating, which is about right. It's clean and comfortable, not luxurious.
The local shop is about a quarter of a mile down the road. There's a pub and restaurant a mile away in Oxton. They're good. For a bigger shop, you'd go to Lauder.
For walks, you're right on the edge of the Lammermuir hills. The Southern Upland Way passes close by if you want a proper long-distance path.
You can drive to Gullane beach in under an hour. North Berwick is about the same distance. You can get boat trips out to Bass Rock from there to see the seabirds.
Edinburgh is 20 miles north, so about 40 minutes depending on traffic. You can park at the park and ride and get the tram in. That's the easiest way to see the castle and museums.
There are a lot of historic abbeys around the Borders if that's your thing. Melrose, Dryburgh, and Jedburgh are all within a half hour drive.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, WiFi, TV, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
